How can Snooth help my company?

For wineries: Even if your wines are already listed on Snooth (new entries are added every day by Snooth users and our automated web crawler), many of these listings contain incomplete or inaccurate info. Since wines with bad data are displayed less prominently on Snooth, when you manage your products you're in control of the quality and accuracy of your listings, ensuring that your wines will be seen and appreciated by more people.

For stores: As the world's largest wine database, we have listings for nearly every wine ever produced. When a customer Googles a specific wine, our listings show up on the first page of results, so associating your inventory with Snooth will position your wines front-and-center on the internet. We refer millions of dollars in sales to wine stores all over the globe -- join us by validating your account, and adding your inventory to Snooth via data file.

  • Does Snooth sell wine?

    No. Our primary goal is to inspire wine discovery and to help consumers make a more informed purchases. Consumers don't transact on Snooth, rather we link off to retail sites or wineries who have the wine in stock; each year we refer millions of dollars in sales.

  • Why should I manage my presence on Snooth?

    If you've ever done an Internet search for a wine or winery, you've probably noticed Snooth is among the top results. As the world's largest wine database, the information on our website is quickly becoming the definitive online resource for all things wine. If you're a store or a winery, making sure your that information on Snooth is correct and up-to-date is an important - and easy - way to make sure people who are interested in your products can find what they're looking for.

  • Why is it important for my products to have label images, winemakers notes, reviews, and other details?

    When Snooth users are searching for wine in broad categories - such as Cabernet Sauvignon from California or Riesling from Germany - we prioritize the search results so that products with data-rich listings are displayed first. So by adding lots of details to your products, you're not only helping your company's wines gain prominence on Snooth, you're helping Snooth visitors find just what they're looking for.

  • Does Snooth accept samples?

    Yes! For every sample we receive, our editorial staff makes a point to post their reviews on Snooth, and in many cases publicly thank the sender via our popular Twitter or Facebook channels. Please send samples to The UPS Store / 1511 Route 22 / Suite 213 / Brewster / NY / 10509.

  • How did Snooth get this data about my company?

    Snooth aggregates data from a wide variety of sources. Our proprietary technology pieces together bits of information to create the rich listings you see on the site.

  • Can I request that my wines or wine company be removed from Snooth?

    Because Snooth's data comes from so many different sources, it's not possible for us to remove references to your company or its products on our site; new pages and references are created continually. We (and US law) believe wine consumers have the right to publish their opinions and experiences with wine and wine businesses. We encourage you to self-manage your company's presence on Snooth by registering to use our wine professionals' interface at http://hub.snooth.com/.

    Data Files

  • What's a data file?

    A data file is a document that lists all the wines you'd like listed for your company on Snooth. Data files for wineries and stores are typically a little different. Typically, a winery's data file has detailed information about each wine - such as varietal breakdown, winemakers notes, and other production details. A data file for a store is usually less detailed, and only needs to list a few key details so each wine in the data file can be associated with a wine listed on Snooth.   • What's a dynamic data file?

    A dynamic data file is just like a regular data file, but it's created automatically and resides on your website. Instead of importing the file into Snooth, you can link to its URL from the add products page. The main advantage over a normal CSV or XML file is that a dynamic data file is automatically up-to-date with your company's latest inventory and price data. There are many different ways for you to create a dynamic data file depending on your company's computer infrastructure and/or technical capabilities.

  • How do I make a CSV file from an Excel file?

  • My data file won't complete processing

    If you data file takes longer than thirty minutes to process, there might be an error. Please contact us if the problem persists.

  • What causes a data file to become "out of date"?

    To ensure the information on Snooth is up-to-date and accurate, prices from a single unmodified data file are only displayed on Snooth for 30 days. (Using a dynamic data file is an good way to keep the file fresh.) A few days before your prices become out of date, you'll receive an email telling you to update your data file. Then, depending on whether your prices have changed since you last imported your data file, or if some of your items are no longer in stock, you'll need to make the necessary changes and re-import your data file.

    Editing and Adding Product Details

  • How do I edit product information?

    You can view all of your products on the products page. From there, find the product you would like to edit and hover your mouse over the record. A link to edit the product will appear. If you are adding multiple products, you might want to upload a data file.

  • How do I add photos, tasting notes, awards, and other information to products?

    You can view all of your products on the products page. From there, find the product you would like to edit and hover your mouse over the record. A link to edit the product will appear. On the edit product page, you can add product imagery, tasting notes, winemaker's notes, awards and other information to help users of Snooth learn about your products.

  • How long does it take for photos in my data file to be added to my products?

    Photos from data files are loaded into the Snooth database between 24-48 hours after the data file is submitted.

  • Why do I see duplicates of some wines?

    Snooth pulls together information from over one thousand sources. Sometimes the information we get causes duplicates to appear in the system. Our technology favors the records with better information, including more imagery, reviews, and notes directly from the winery. Some products are merged by Snooth automatically, but if we do not catch a duplicate you can merge it manually.

  • How do I merge duplicate products?

    In the "Your Products" tab, check the checkbox to the left of each duplicate wine (2 or more items). To the left of the items, a set of boxed links appears, the first of which is "Merge Duplicates." Click this link to merge.

  • How long should it take to process a data file?

    If you have fewer than fifty products, processing your data file should take about five minutes. For larger data files, it might take up to 30 minutes to process all your products.

  • Why do I have to wait overnight for the products in my data file to appear on Snooth?

    As the world's largest wine website, we take the quality of our data very seriously. As a result, we have processes set up that must check the integrity of the data from data files before merging that data with our master database. These processes are scheduled to occur during the evening across the mainland USA to minimize site performance issues should they occur.

  • Why aren't my changes appearing immediately in wine search on Snooth.com?

    In order to provide highly responsive searches across millions of wines, our search index has to cache information aggressively. This means that it takes some time for changes to propagate fully through the search index. At most, this will take up to one hour, and may take as little as fifteen minutes

  • How do I get rid of old vintages I don't want showing up for my winery?

    By making sure all your product listings are accurate, your current release wines will be more prominent on Snooth. For example, by merging your duplicate wines and improving the listings of your other wines, we'll be better able to determine which products are currently in stock. And since we only display in-stock wines by default on Snooth, your winery's out-of-stock archived vintages won't be seen by users unless they are searching specifically for them.

  • How do I get rid of products that aren't mine?

    In most cases these products are other winery's products that have been incorrectly attributed to your winery. To remove these products from your list of products, change the product's winery to the correct winery and it should be removed from your list of products immediately.

  • What do "Current Release" and "Prior Release" mean?

    Marking a wine as a current release serves two purposes. First, it signifies that the product is part of a winery's current portfolio and has accurate listing information. Secondly, wines marked as current releases are given extra prominence on Snooth for people searching and browsing for wines. Marking a wine as a prior release also tells Snooth visitors that the listing information is accurate. Prior releases are listed after current releases by default on Snooth. Products without any release information are assumed to be inaccurate or duplicate listings and will be displayed the least prominently on Snooth.

  • What is an "Unverified Listing"?

    Once you have cleaned your list of products to your satisfaction and merged all duplicates, you can "Lock down" your data on Snooth. As new data comes into the system for your winery, we will attempt to merge it into one of your listings by pushing it through each of over 1,000 rules that clean wine data. If we are unsuccessful, we will mark it as an "Unverified Listing". Unverified Listings are given lower prominence in the search results or hidden entirely from the default searches users make for your products. While the products are hidden, you are given a chance to come back to the winery professionals site and merge any Unverified Listings into your Verified Listings, Current or Prior Releases, or you can mark them as Bad Listings. When you merge products, all price, image, and review data that is attached to the Unverified Listing will become available on your curated listings.

  • What is a "Bad Listing"?

    Sometimes, a listing on Snooth is completely false. Either this is a product that does not exist, or it is impossible to tell what the listing is because of excessive abbreviation. "Bad Listing" provides you a way to filter out these listings so that they do not get in your way as you fix your products. A listing that is marked as a "Bad Listing" will still show up in search results on Snooth, but it will be given lower prominence or even hidden from the natural search results. We won't remove it completely because some users might still find the data attached to the listing helpful.

  • How do I delete a wine?

    Wines on Snooth are never deleted. This enables people to write reviews of the wine if they taste it after it has sold out, or is no longer available.

    E-commerce

  • How do I list my inventory and prices on Snooth to sell wine?

    The first step is making sure your account is set up as a store. Go to the "Your Account" page and click on a company to edit its information. Then scroll down to the section titled "E-Commerce" and make sure the option for "Do you sell direct"? is marked "Yes". Next you'll need to set up a data file.

  • What's a tracking code and how does it work?

    Snooth's tracking code is a small and unobtrusive snippet of JavaScript code that you add to your E-Commerce website to track exactly how many leads and sales come from Snooth. Each company has a different tracking code, so you can find yours by clicking the proper company on the Account page.

  • What are the technical details of how the tracking code works?

    When Snooth sends traffic to your site, it will add a URL parameter "?__sn_ref" to the URL. When the Option 2 Snooth tracking code sees this __sn_ref parameter, it sets a cookie on your domain telling the code that the user is a Snooth referral. When the Snooth tracking cookie is not set, the code will be completely dormant. Once activated with the __sn_ref parameter, the code will wait until it has order data (inserted into the code only on the checkout confirmation page), at which point it sends that back to Snooth. If there is no order data, no order will be tracked. If the user was not referred by Snooth, no order will be tracked.

  • How do I let others make changes to a company?

    To grant administrative access to others, click on "Your Account", then click on the company you'd like to add an administrator to, scroll down to the section marked "Administrative Accounts", and enter the email address (or addresses) there.

  • Do I have to share my personal Snooth account information with others who I want to administer my company?

    No. Once you are an administrator of a company, you can grant access to others without them having to log into your Snooth account. To grant administrative access to others, click on "Your Account", then click on the company you'd like to add an administrator to, scroll down to the section marked "Administrative Accounts", and enter the email address (or addresses) there.

    Companies

  • How do I start editing my company information?

    First you'll need to add a company to your account. After you become verified, you can browse to "Your Account" to view and edit your company information.

  • What's "verifying my account"?

    Account verification is a process where you send Snooth a request to gain access to edit a company's details and product information. This is a necessary step for both the security of your account and the integrity of the data on Snooth. Depending on your credentials, account verification could take between 5 minutes and 48 hours.

  • My company isn't listed on Snooth.

    If we don't have a listing for your company, just type your company name on the Add a Company page and press "Choose Company" to add it.

  • My company's name is listed incorrectly.

    If your company name is incorrect, or if you see multiple companies that could be yours on the Add a Company page, just select the one that's the closest match to your real company name and press "Choose Company" to continue. We can fix the company name later on.
